Flood preparedness meeting conducted in Cachar district

May 14: A meeting concerning floor preparedness presided over by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar was held on Thursday.

Some of the key decisions that have been taken in this meeting include reviewing of important aspects like dykes, sluice gates, etc; involvement of all departments in flood management, stocking up of important items like food materials, fodder, medicines, veterinary items, etc. Also a detail discussion on relief camp management was done and a systematic mechanism using school teachers in each revenue village of the district was also decided to be formulated.

Apart from this, decision regarding the stationing of NDRF Team was also taken. It was also decided that no state government employee will be allowed leave during this crisis and no body is allowed to switch off their phones, found doing any of these they will be subjected to punishment. Along with the general preparedness it was also decided that the flood preparedness has to be done keeping in mind COVID-19 outbreak and following certain norms related to it.
