Finally 13 candidates to contest for Silchar Lok Sabha seat
March 30: With the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 knocking at the doors, the district administration of Cachar is also geared up to ensure a smooth election. The prestigious Silchar Lok Sabha seat will go for polls on 18 April this year. A total of 11,93,908 voters of Cachar district would cast their vote in 1461 polling stations to decide the fate of Silchar Lok Sabha seat. The main fight is expected to occur between the Congress and the BJP over here.
The Returning Officer of Cachar has declared the final list of contesting candidates for the Silchar constituency. The following candidates will have their final place in the Ballot Units of the EVM which will be used in the 1461 polling stations across the district:
- Rajdeep Roy- Bharatiya Janata Party- Symbol: Lotus
- Sushmita Dev- Indian National Congress- Symbol: Hand
- Hitabrata Roy- All India Trinamool Congress- Symbol: Flowers & grass
- Nazia Yasmin Mazumdar- National People’s Party- Symbol: Book
- Badrul Islam Barbhuiya- All India Forward Block- Symbol: Lion
- Shyam Deo Kurmi- Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist)- Symbol: Battery Torch
- Ashitava Dutta- Independent- Symbol: Laptop.
- Ausutosh Bhattacharjee- Independent- Symbol: Pen Nib with seven Ray’s
- Nazmul Haque Laskar- Independent- Symbol: Diamond
- Puranlal Goala- Independent- Symbol:Cup and saucer
- Mohendra Chandra Das- Independent- Symbol: Auto Rickshaw
- Shuvadip Dutta- Independent- Symbol: Boat with man and sail
- Sabindra Das-Independent – Symbol: Ship.
There will be 255 polling stations at No.9 Silchar Legislative Assembly Consituency (LAC). In a similar manner, there will be 219 polling booths at No.10 Sonai LAC, 206 polling stations at No.11 Dholai (SC) LAC, 196 polling booths at No.12 Udharbond LAC, 192 polling stations at No.13 Lakhipur LAC, 175 polling booths at No.14 Borkhola constituency and 218 polling stations at No.15 Katigorah constituency. That means at Cachar district, there will be a total of 1461 polling stations.
