Fight against COVID-19 in Cachar district: Bed strength of CCC increased to 2445
August 18: Keeping in view the increasing load of asymptomatic COVID positive cases in Cachar district and to reduce bed occupancy at Silchar Medical College and Hospital and other hospitals, the district administration has notified five new COVID Care Centers in the district to strengthen its preparedness to fight the COVID pandemic.
In an order issued to this effect here, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli ordered conversion of the Assam University with a bed capacity of 500 into COVID Care Centre, Kachudaram Model Hospital in Sonai with 180 bed capacity, Don Bosco School at Borkhola with 300 bed strength, Judhstirsaha HS School with 130 bed capacity and NIT, Silchar with 300 bed capacity as COVID Care Centers. Apart from this, Model Degree College at Borkhola with 300 beds, Foreigner Tribunal at Silchar with 100 beds, NATRIP in Udharbond with 180 bed capacity, Sarala Birla with 160 beds, Palonghat MG Model Hospital with 77 beds, Chibitabichia Model Hospital with 120 bed capacity, JNV Pailapool with 168 beds and Saint Capitanio School with 110 bed capacity are already made fully functional.
The combined bed strength of all these COVID Care Centre is 2,445. The administration has put these arrangements in place to cater to the emergency situation arising out of spike in number of corona positive cases across the district. This was stated in a Press Release issued from the Office of DDIPR, Silchar.
