Female student molested, AUTA & ACTA express solidarity with students

December 3: Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) expressed solidarity with the students of the university who protested against manhandling of the students of Social Work Department near the main gate of Silchar Medical College & Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. However, Aritra Dhar, GS of the Students’ Union of the varsity said that if the culprits are not nabbed within 24 hours then they will launch a vigorous agitation.

In a message, AUTA General Secretary Dr. Debashish Sengupta commented that they were indeed worried to learn about the unfortunate incident which occured with some of the students of Assam University. In his message, Dr. Sengupta wrote, “We are in solidarity with our students. The culprits should be booked for a very strong and immediate action by the district administration.
