Exhibition Hockey Matches organised by Karimganj Hockey to celebrate 100 years of Indian Hockey

Way2barak, November 7 : As part of the nationwide celebration marking 100 years of Indian hockey, the Karimganj Hockey Association of Sribhumi District participated in a special exhibition event. Two exhibition matches were held on Friday at the playground of Samabay HS School, creating an enthusiastic sporting atmosphere in the region.
In the men’s match of the day, Karimganj Hockey Association faced off against Bright Future Institute. It was ended in 2-2 draw. In the women’s match, Karimganj Hockey Academy defeated Saint Anthony School of Badarpur in a thrilling penalty shootout to secure victory. Sushmita Malakar scored the solitary goal.

The event was graced by the presence of Amalesh Choudhury, President of the Sribhumi District Sports Association, as the chief guest. On this occasion, Karimganj Hockey Association’s Secretary, Emad Uddin, presented a copy of his authored book “Hockey 60” to the chief guest. Among the distinguished guests present were retired teacher and social worker Abdur Razzak, Principal i/c of Samabay HS School Sanjib Bhattacharjee, and former Assam Hockey executive member Taz Uddin.
Guests were warmly welcomed by Karimganj Hockey Academy Director Salim Ahmed Joint Secretary of the Hockey Association — Manideepa Kairi and Sushmita Malakar, Ramiz Uddin, Ahmed Juhair, Rupa Ghosh, Mabrul Ahmed Junaid Ahmed and others. The matches were conducted by Anwar Hussain and Shibom Deb. To commemorate the historic centenary of Indian hockey, officials of the Karimganj Hockey Association appeared on the field wearing special commemorative jerseys, adding charm to the celebration..
