Mock Polling Station inaugurated at Hailakandi DC office

March 15: SVEEP cell, Hailakandi in a bid to ensure #novoterleftbehind and to promote and facilitate use of EVM and first time introduced VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) has opened a Mock Polling Station in DC Hailakandi office premises. Deputy Commissioner J. Keerthi  has urged upon all to come and cast their mock vote for voter awareness and familiarisation.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, DC J. Keerthi along with SVEEP team and DIO, DPM, NHM attended the Village Health Nutrition Day under Lala Block for ‘Saas Bahu Sammelan’ under Mission Paribar Vikas to discuss issues of family planning, safe practices for family, sanitation and hygiene with use of pads. She also discussed and demonstrated usage of EVM/VVPAT to the Saas Bahu group to prepare them for forthcoming elections, 2019 and ensure they all vote.

In a bid to remove fears of mothers from Polio Vaccine campaign and also encourage them to vote and to familiarise them with EVM/VVPAT and to dispel their fears of using EVM, DC J. Keerthi along with SVEEP Cell officer Tridip Roy ACS and team along with DPM, DME NHM and BPM Katlicherra along with doctor visited door to door Khasi houses in Tikel Basti (Lalpani Khasia Punji), Katlicherra. Sanitation pads were also distributed at nominal cost to improve awareness of hygiene and include the women voters in Elections.

After the declaration of polls, a series of meetings were conducted by District Administration Hailakandi along with District Superintendent of Police Mahnish Kumar with all Political Parties and media where they have been told the do’s and don’ts with regards to Model Code of Conduct.

A meeting with Zonal and Sector Officers was held to discuss issues of connectivity, network, availability of water/toilet/electricity at assigned Polling Stations. A meeting with Flying Squad, Static SurveillanceTeam, Video Surveillance Team, Model Code of Conduct team, Expenditure Monitoring Cell to kick start inspections. A meeting with all Cell In-charges and staff to check poll preparedness was also held. DC J. Keerthi said, “We are ready to conduct free, fair, neutral and transparent Parliamentary Elections 2019 in Hailakandi.”
