Drive against ‘drink & drive’ by Assam Police to be continued throughout the year

Jan. 4: In view of the rampant drink and drive cases & the related casualties, especially during festive seasons, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma directed upon the police department that those found to involve in drink and drive on the new year’s eve would be detained for the night. Acting upon this, Assam Police launched a massive drive throughout the state on 31 December and 1 January.

However, on Tuesday, Assam Police informed that such moves would not be restricted only for a day. They would rather continue such drives throughout the year. Taking to its twitter handle, Assam Police wrote, “Our focus on Road Safety was not just for a single day. As envisioned by the Hon’ CM @himantabiswa, it will continue all 365 days of the year. Drinking & driving has devastating effects on society. Act with responsibility.”
