DM Karimganj restricts pillion riding & bursting sound producing crackers in public places

Nov. 11: Anbamuthan M.P., in his capacity as the District Magistrate of Karimganj issued an order in the context of ensuing Kali Puja and Diwali. In the order issued on 11 November, 2020, he stated, “Where it has made to appear before me that the anti national elements and other miscreants may create trouble and violence by taking advantage of their easy movement by pillion riding on any two wheelers viz. Scooter, Motorcycles etc. and bursting crackers/ bombs and other sound producing articles in large scale and display of fire works in public places in Karimganj District in the context of ensuing Kali Puja & Diwali Festivals 2020, etc.”

He further stated that such pillion riding, bursting of crackers/ bombs and other sound producing articles in large scale and display of fire works in public places may cause incident of fire and loss of human life or public property that may lead to disturb peace and tranquility. It is in this backdrop, that the District magistrate of Karimganj promulgated prohibitory order.

  1. No two wheelers viz. Scooter, Motorcycles etc. will be allowed to move with pillion riding within the Karimganj District.However, the above restriction shall not apply for the aged persons, children below 12 years of age and female and also for the law enforcing personnel viz. Magistrates, Police/Army etc. on duty.
  2. No person shall burst any crackers/ bombs and other sound producing articles and display fire works at any public place and public thoroughfare, near, Petrol Pumps, Hospital, Religious Institutions etc.
  3. No person shall manufacture, sell or use fire crackers generating noise level exceeding 125 decibel (A,1) or 145 db (C) at four metre distance from the point of bursting in any private places as per order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on writ Petition (Civil) 71/98 and no person shall sell the fire crackers etc. without obtaining proper license from the competent authority.

He further stated that, “The order is passed ex-parte in the interest of public peace ant tranquility and shall come into force with immediate effect.”
