Digital Empowerment Foundation to set up 500 small businesses to empower persons with disabilities
Dec. 21: Digital Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit Delhi based organisation has announced a major initiative to set up small businesses for 500 persons with disabilities in India. As part of this initiative, Digital Empowerment Foundation has identified 35 persons with disability entrepreneurs in Cachar District of Assam. The organization will enable them with digital infrastructure and tools to become entrepreneurs, earn and be a part of the economic process.
A few days ago, Digital Infrastructure distribution programme was organised in Uttar Krishnapur Part-1, Sonai Road, Silchar. In this programme, 35 persons with disability entrepreneurs received digital infrastructure to setup information centers. This program aims to empower persons with disabilities across the country, especially from underprivileged background to gain confidence, adopt digital tools and become entrepreneurs. This was stated by Nahid Jubair Barbhuiya, Deputy Director Digital Empowerment Foundation. Thoi Singh, District Coordinator was also present along with Mr Ali Bharbhuiya from Bhagat Singh Social Service Society with other guests.
