Dholai gears up for grand inauguration of Co-District Office and 79th I-Day celebration

Way2barak, August 3 : With an air of anticipation and collective enthusiasm, Dholai is set to witness two landmark events this August, the inauguration of the much-awaited Co-District Office and the celebration of the 79th Independence Day. In a detailed planning meeting held on Saturday at the Conference Hall of Dholai Police Station, chaired by the MLA of Dholai,Shri Nihar Ranjan Das a comprehensive blueprint was laid out to ensure both events are celebrated in a grand and seamless manner.
At the outset, Additional District Commissioner of Cachar, Hemanga Nobis welcomed the gathering of departmental heads and stakeholders, expressing optimism over the region’s progress and the people’s cooperation. Neihat Haolai , Assistant Commissioner, Cachar, presented the minutes of the previous meeting, following which a threadbare discussion paved the way for key decisions regarding infrastructure, cultural programmes, logistics, and public participation.
A 2000-seater inauguration venue is being set up at the PWD field, with the site undergoing rapid transformation under the supervision of the PWD (Roads) Department. The approach road and surrounding grounds are being levelled and filled ahead of the scheduled inauguration date of August 12. A committee led by Bhusan Pal as Convenor, along with members Sitangshu Das, Bidhan Paul, Sanjay Kairi and Nirmal Kanti, has been tasked to oversee and coordinate every aspect of the preparations from ground readiness to tent arrangements.
The PWD (Building) Division will verify and certify the event-related constructions to ensure safety standards are upheld. The programme lineup includes traditional cultural performances Jhumur Dhamail and Dimasa Bihu curated by the District Cultural Officer, reflecting the area’s vibrant ethnic roots.
The Nazir Department of the DC Office will be responsible for essential logistics ranging from banners and cut-outs to refreshments and water supply for nearly 2,000 attendees. Special attention is being given to security measures, with the OC of Dholai Police Station directed to ensure law and order. LED lighting and uninterrupted power supply will be managed jointly by the decorator and APDCL’s Dholai Sub-Division.
Preparations are running parallel for the 79th Independence Day celebration. The ceremonial flag hoisting will take place at the PWD field on August 15 at 9:00 AM. All government and private institutions across Dholai Co-District have been directed to conduct cleanliness drives and illuminate their premises from August 12–15. Flag hoisting in offices is scheduled at 7:30 AM and in private premises at 7:00 AM on the day.
Auxilium School and BNMP School will join hands with the Police to organize a ceremonial parade, while APDCL and PHE departments are working to ensure uninterrupted power and drinking water arrangements. The Forest Department is arranging bamboo and sand for barricades and sheds, while the SDMO of BPHC Dholai is keeping a medical team on standby with ambulances and first-aid kits.
As a gesture of honour and recognition, the district administration plans to felicitate local sports achievers, HSLC and HSSLC toppers, and senior citizens on Independence Day. A final joint inspection of the venue will take place on the evening of August 14 to review preparedness. Officers and staff have been urged to inspire citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and institutions as a mark of unity and patriotism.
