DHE Assam to come for enquiry against Principal of Cachar College on Monday

Aug.28: All does not seem to go well with Dr Siddhartha Shankar Nath, Principal of Cachar College, Silchar. Dr. Nath was initially detained and then arrested for more than 14 hours on 21 August on charges of dereliction of duty. This drastic decision was taken by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar during the conduct of the Recruitment Exam of Grade III & IV on 21 August. Since then, many unlawful activities performed by Dr Nath is gradually coming to surface. As per reports, the highhandedness exhibited by him in a plethora of matters has invited the wrath of the Department of Higher Education, Assam.

It is in this backdrop that Dharmakanta Mili, Director of Higher Education (DHE), Assam will come to conduct a detailed enquiry into all such alleged irregularities performed by the Principal in his tenure of last three years. DHE Assam is supposed to arrive at Silchar on Monday morning.

As per sources, many employees of Cachar College have registered their grievances on many matters with the DHE. On Monday, the DHE will come to Cachar College to unearth the truth behind all such allegations. Apart from the allegation of willful negligence of duty during the Recruitment examination, the issue of appointing one of his 1st cousin brother, Kanchan Nath will also be investigated by the Director. It has been alleged that while appointing his brother Kanchan Nath as a Grade III staff in the college, the Principal has disobeyed all existing rules and regulations of the Government of Assam.

Exhibiting a damn care attitude, it has been alleged that Principal Nath has entrusted the responsibility of Accounts section upon his cousin brother working in a purely non-existing temporary post. Questions are being raised at various platforms about this illegal step adopted by the Principal exhibiting his highhandedness. Some of the students even alleged that when scores of unemployed youths of this district are still unemployed, the Principal violating all rules have appointed his brother in his college, who is a resident of Tripura.

Moreover, many other serious allegations like concocting GB resolutions, inflicting harassment upon teachers, writing false and baseless letters to NCC, financial irregularies etc. will also be looked upon by the DC Cachar.
