Actor & theatre personality Girish Karnad passes away

June 10: Girish Karnad, veteran actor and playwright breathed his last on Monday at Bengaluru. He was 81. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son. Girish Karnad was ill since quite a long time. Ultimately he passed away on Monday morning after prolonged illness.

Girish Karnad was the recipient of prestigious awards. He was adorned with Jnanpith award, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He has acted in several Kannad and Hindi films. He made his acting debut in the year 1970. His first film was Samskara. He has written numerous plays.
