Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque visits Joypur where landslide claimed 7 lives, met with victims family
June 3: Incessant rains played havoc in southern Assam. 21 people have been killed in multiple landslides triggered by incessant rains in the three districts of Barak Valley region of South Assam on Tuesday. Cachar district alone reported 7 deaths (4 children, 3 adults) on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Aminul Haque Laskar visited the Kalapur village in Joypur of Cachar district, where landslide claimed 7 lives on Tuesday. He also met with the victim families. He assured all sorts of cooperation to the those who lost 7 of their family members in the devastating landslide.
The seven dead in Cachar have been identified as, Aajim Uddin Laskar (45), Aliya Begum (20), Alom Uddin (18), Arif Uddin (17), Amina Begum (14), Sumana Begum (12) and Rahim Uddin (8). An ex-gratia of Rs.4 lakh each was given to the family of the deceased on Tuesday itself within 10 hours of the tragic incident. A total of Rs.28 lakh was handed over by Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, DC Keerthi Jalli and others.
