Covaxin, Covishield effective against Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta variants of Covid: Govt

June 27: Amid rising concern with the augment of Delta variant of Covid-19, ICMR chief Dr Balram Bhargava has said that Covaxin, produced by Bharat Biotech and Covishield, produced by Serum Institute of India are effective against SARS-CoV-2 variants Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta. He further added that the effectiveness test of these two vaccines against the Delta Plus variant are underway. “We should have these results in 7 to 10 days as to whether the vaccine is working against the Delta Plus variant,” informed Dr Bhargava.
