Deadline for linking PAN-Aadhar extended till 31 December
September 28: The Ministry of Finance has extended the due date for linking of PAN with Aadhaar from 30 September, 2019 to 31 December, 2019. This marks the seventh time the government has extended the deadline for the public to link the two identification numbers. The last extension was in March this year, when the government had pushed the last date by six months to September 30.

In a notification dated 28th September, it said, “In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (2) of section 139AA of the Income tax Act, 1961 (,Act’)(43 of 1961), the Central Government hereby amends the notification of the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) dated 31st March, 2019, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, sub-section (ii) vide S.O. number 149S(E) dated April 1, 2019.”
However, the government is yet to come up with consequences in case one fails to link PAN with Aadhar within the stipulated period of time.
