DC Cachar inspects COVID-19 preparedness, asks people to stay home & not to panic

I urge all to maintain social distancing when out on streets: DC Cachar

March 25: Deputy Commissioner Cachar, Barnali Sharma visited the isolation ward at S. M. Dev Civil Hospital on Wednesday to review the preparedness regarding COVID-19. During her visit to the hospital Dr. Sudip Jyoti Das, Superintendent of S.M Dev Civil Hospital, Ashutosh Barman, Dr Ajit kumar Bhattacharjee, District Nodal Officer (COVID-19) also accompanied her.

Deputy Commissioner inspected all the wards and took stock about the facilities available for the patients in S.M Dev Civil Hospital, During her visit, the health officials informed that a total of 6 beds, 3 for male and 3 for female were kept ready for isolation. She expressed satisfaction as the isolation ward was well equipped.

It was also informed that dedicated staff were been put on duty 24×7. Later on DC Sharma went around the commercial and residential areas of Silchar town. During the inspection, she expressed her displeasure as she noticed that in some areas people were not maintaining ‘social distancing’, particularly in medicine and grocery shops. She immediately instructed all the customers and shop owners to maintain ‘social distancing’ of at least 1 meter between individuals and urged all section of the society not to stay out of their respective houses.

A pharmacy at Itkhola, Silchar

Meanwhile, an incident drew the praise of the Deputy Commissioner during her inspection. In an effort to maintain social distancing, a medicine store, M/S Narmada Medicos near Itkhola, Silchar has drawn circles maintaining 1 meter distance outside the store for the customers. DC Cachar appreciated this effort and urged other stores to follow this example.
