Curfew timings relaxed by 1 hour on Uruka & 2 hours on Magh Bihu

Jan. 11: At a time when the Covid positive cases in Assam is increasing by leaps and bounds, the state government seems to be in no mood to provide more relaxations. However, while addressing the newsmen on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that on the night of Uruka (Bihu eve), night curfew will start at 11 PM instead of 10 PM. The Chief Minister further stated that next morning (on Magh Bihu), curfew will end at 4 AM instead of 6 AM. The Chief Minister, however, urged upon the people to be very careful and abide by Covid appropriate behaviour.

On Tuesday, out of 49,840 tests, 2,837 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 6,31,776. The positivity rate in the state is 5.69 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 870 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 02 died in the state due to COVID-19. The death toll in the state stands at 6,185. The recovery rate is 97.34 percent.
