India reports 1st 6 cases of new coronavirus strain in UK returned persons
Dec. 29: In a somewhat tensed development, India has reported the first six cases of the new coronavirus strain. All of them came from the United Kingdom. They are presently kept in isolation in a single room. Out of the six, three were found to be positive in NIMHANS, Bengaluru; two in CCMB Hyderabad and one in NIV Pune.
The new coronavirus variant found in the UK had sparked worries across the world since it was said to be much more infectious.
In order to detect the presence of the new strain of coronavirus, genome sequencing tests are being done. Chief of India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) informed that 24 hours time is needed to trace the mutant strain of the new coronavirus.
Infact, six labs across India are set to conduct the genome sequencing tests to find out the presence of the new mutant strain of the coronavirus.
