Covid spike continues in Cachar, 41 detected positive on Friday, 1 death at SMCH
Active cases 128 in Cachar, 14 discharged
Jan. 7: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Thursday at late night. As per the latest data, 41 persons were found positive in the district on 7 January. Also, 14 patients were discharged (03 hospital & 11 from home) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 128. On Thursday, 27 persons were found positive in Cachar. It needs mention here that in Assam, the number of daily positive cases was recorded at 1,167 on Friday.
As per the updated data, a total of 1,517 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 23 persons were found positive, whereas 18 were detected positive out of 397 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 20,721 whereas during this phase, 20,374 patients were discharged.
There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 6 January to 5 PM on 7 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening.
The deceased identified as Maya Rani Kurmi (63) from Cachar tested RT-PCR positive on 1 January. She was subsequently admitted at SMCH on 2 January. The patient, however, breathed her last at 8.45 AM on 7 January, 2022. The patient was also suffering from diabetes, chronic kidney disease, hypertension and was on cardia pacemaker.
It needs mention here that the last patient who died due to coronavirus at SMCH was Rajendra Das (52) from Ambicapatty. He died on 28 December, 2021.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 07 January, there were 25 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 05 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 30 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 03 were discharged. Further, 18 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
