CM directs revival of Assam State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited
Feasibility study is required for declaring 416 KM stretch of road from Dhubri to Silapathar as special economic corridor: CM
Dec. 4: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a direction for revival of Assam State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (ASDICL).
At a meeting held at the conference room of his office in Janata Bhavan here today, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that ASIDCL was formed in 2016 for the capacity enhancement ofcPublic Works Department. However, for certain reasons it could not live up to its mandate. Now, when the PWD has taken several flagship schemes for building and revamping the state roads, the revival of ASIDCL as a catalyst of development has become pertinent. Therefore, steps have to be taken for the revival of ASIDCL. The meeting also decided that henceforth, Chief Minister Assam will act as the chairman of ASIDCL.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also stressed on the need for expediting State government’s plan for connecting different places of Assam through a well laid out network of roads. Moreover, the Chief Minister asked PWD to study the feasibility for declaring the stretch of 416 KM road from Dhubri to Silapathar once upon a time known as ‘Gohainkamal Ali’ as special corridor. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Commissioner cum Special Secretary PWD Rajesh Kemprai and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
