COVID-19 reaches Sikkim, 1st positive case reported

May 24: Sikkim and Nagaland were the two states in Northeast with the tag of ‘corona-free’ states. However, on Saturday, Sikkim registered its first COVID-19 positive case. A 25-year-old youth, who recently returned to the state from Delhi was tested positive. Dr Pemba Tshering Bhutia, the Director General cum Secretary of the Health Department, said that the afflicted man has now been admitted to the state’s dedicated COVID-19 hospital — STNM. According to reports, the youth is a UPSC aspirant who had gone to Delhi for coaching purposes.
