COVID-19: Assam ranks 4th in terms of tests per million
July 5: With the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Assam Health Department has also accelerated the number of tests in the state. It is in this connection that CEO of Niti Ayog has come up with figures wherein in terms of tests per million, Assam has been placed in 4th position. The highest tests per million population has been achieved in Delhi followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
NITI Ayog in its tweet wrote, “The high tests per million being undertaken now in Delhi must be emulated by other states. This is critical. States must be judged on testing. We can succeed against #Covid-19 only with 3T strategy of testing, tracing & treating. This is the moment to act, and to act fast.
We will complete 5 lacs test in next few days. Our faculties, scientists and lab technicians are working 24 hrs putting their life at risk. Hope some day people will recognise thiis selfless dedication of my team . Thank you @amitabhk87 for recognising my state https://t.co/k9ft8a3bH8

Sharing this information, Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, “We will complete 5 lacs test in next few days. Our faculties, scientists and lab technicians are working 24 hrs putting their life at risk. Hope some day people will recognise thiis selfless dedication of my team . Thank you @amitabhk87 for recognising my state.”
In a similar tweet, Samir K Sinha, top bureaucrat in the State Health Department tweeted, “In Assam, we worked on this aspect in the last two months. 13 Labs are functional, testing more than 13000 RTPCR tests per day. In Guwahati, every ward has a testing facility. We have also introduced Point of Care Rapid Antigen tests since yesterday.”
