Contrary to CM Assam’s declaration, SMCH prohibits non-vaccinated persons in its premises
Jan. 8: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Friday declared that from now onwards only those persons who are fully vaccinated would be allowed to enter any public place except hospitals. However, contrary to the announcement made by the state Chief Minister, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) authorities on Saturday notified that “any person without double vaccine doses will not be allowed to enter SMCH premises.”
Vice Principal of SMCH, Dr Bhaskar Gupta on Saturday informed media some of the steps adopted by the medical college authorities for public safety in the wake of the impending third wave of Covid-19. He stated:
- As per recent Govt. directive, now onwards, any person without double Covid Vaccination will not be allowed to enter SMCH premises.
- Entry of attendance will be restricted.
- Unnecessary crowding will not be entertained.
- Any person without Mask found in Hospital premises, strict action will be taken by Authority.
Dr Gupta further informed that informed that till 5 PM on 08 January, there were 31 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, no patients were put under ventilator support, and 02 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 03 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH but none were discharged. Further, 07 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
