Congress releases Election Manifesto; assures to revive paper mills, 5 lakh govt jobs

Lots of assurances for Barak Valley in Congress Manifesto

March 21: Indian National Congress (INC) released its Election Manifesto for Assam on Saturday. The Manifesto includes ‘five guarantees’ that the party has promised if voted to power. These are:

  • Law against CAA
  • 5 lakh govt jobs
  • Rs.365 daily wages to tea garden workers
  • Rs.2000 per month to housewives
  • 200 units of free electricity to each household.

Here are the main highlights of the Congress Manifesto:

  •  Both the Paper mills to be revived
  • Silchar Railway station to be renamed as Basha Sahid Station
  • Cultural centre in the name of Rabindranath Tagore to be made in Barak Valley
  • Bench of Gauhati High Court to be established in Barak Valley
  • Super Specialty centre in Silchar Medical College with full fledged neurology & cardiology departments
  • The unemployed of Barak Valley to given priority in Gr 3 & Gr 4 jobs
  • Agricultural University to be established in Barak Valley.
  • Speedy completion of Mahasarak
  • Cow sheds to be constructed in each district. So that cows unable to yield milk can be looked after
  • Educational Scholarship will be initiated in the name of Martyr of Language Movement Sahid Mujammil Ali
  • A renowned Journalist will be honoured in the name of Radhakhant Baruah
  • Financial assistance will be provided to those Namgarh, Mandir, Masjid, , Church, Dargah, Gurdwara completing 50 years.
  • Aid from International banks like World bank, Asian Development Bank will be taken for flood management
  • Congress is committed to waive loans of women taken from microfinance Moreover they will also be provided interest free loan
  • Under Chapter Home and Administrative Reforms, for the first time in Assam, The party is committed to have zero tolerance policy towards all officials including the highest ones.
