CM launches “Mukhyamantrir Eti Koli, Duti Paat” scheme

way2barak, June 1: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a new scheme called “Mukhyamantrir Eti Koli, Duti Paat”. The scheme aims to give a one-time financial help of ₹5,000 to more than 7 lakh tea garden workers and employees across the state. A total of 7,05,713 workers and employees will benefit from this scheme.
The Chief Minister announced the scheme during a state-level video conference held on Friday. Ministers, MLAs, and top officials from all districts took part in the meeting to discuss how to smoothly carry out the scheme.
In Cachar district, the meeting was convened at NIC’s video conference room in DC’s Office Silchar. Present at the video conference were Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA of Udharbond; Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA of Silchar; Mridul Yadav, IAS, District Commissioner of Cachar; Masi Topno, Election Officer and Nodal Officer for Cachar; and Deepa Das, Assistant Commissioner of Cachar and incharge Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations for Barak Valley Zone. Other senior officers were also present.
The Chief Minister said the scheme is a way of saying “thank you” to the hardworking tea garden workers who are an important part of Assam’s history and economy. The name of the scheme “Eti Koli, Duti Paat” means “One Bud, Two Leaves”, which is closely connected to how tea is picked and prepared.
Besides launching this scheme, the Chief Minister also reviewed the state’s flood preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season. He gave clear instructions to all departments to stay ready and take all necessary steps to deal with any possible flood situation.
This scheme not only gives financial support but also honours the efforts of Assam’s tea workers. It shows that the government is serious about helping and uplifting the people who have worked hard for generations in the tea gardens.
