CM Himanta Biswa to hold press meet at 3 PM today, likely to declare fresh Covid restrictions
Jan. 7: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will hold a Press Meet at Conference Hall, CM Block, Janata Bhawan, Guwahati at 3 PM on 7 January, 2022. The Chief Minister is likely to announce fresh set of restrictions in the wake of rising Covid positive cases in the state.
The Chief Minister said that his government would try to strike a balance between life and livelihood. That means the state government is in no mood of declaring complete lockdown this time. The CM, however, indicated that the curfew timings may be advanced and restrictions on public gatherings will also be imposed. People would again need to wear face masks. He also said that the children will be more vulnerable to the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Children, he added, throughout the world are more infected by Omicron.

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma further stated that adults who are vaccinated would not be so much vulnerable to Omicron variant. “This time our main strategy will be to ensure that the children stays at home and the adults should go for work provided they have taken the jab.
