CGHS Wellness Centre at SiIchar for employees & pensioners to become operational from 5 Oct: MoHFW

Oct. 1: ‘Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre’ at SiIchar. Assam shall become operational from the 5 October, 2021 fulfilling the long standing demand of the Central Government employees and pensioners of the region. The Wellness Centre shall function from Type-IV Quarters of Department of Posts at the following address:

Quarter No D28 D3 (Behind POSK)
Cachar Postal Divisional Office Premises, Silchar, Cachar- 788 001, Assam

Informing this in a letter addressed to Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Health Welfare, Govt of India on 1 October stated, “In this regard, we are thankful for the keen interest shown by you in facilitating that the CGHS Wellness Centre becomes functional after it was taken over from Department of Posts. We look forward to your continued support and guidance for the smooth functioning of the Wellness Centre.”

For the last six decades, Central Government Health Scheme is providing comprehensive medical care to the Central Government employees and pensioners enrolled under the scheme. In fact CGHS caters to the healthcare needs of eligible beneficiaries covering all four pillars of democratic set up in India namely Legislature, Judiciary, Executive and Press. CGHS is the model Health care facility provider for Central Government employees & Pensioners and is unique of its kind due to the large volume of beneficiary base, and open ended generous approach of providing health care.

Presently approximately 38.5 lakh beneficiaries are covered by CGHS in 74 cities all over India and the endeavour is to include more cities to improve the accessibility of the services. CGHS provides health care through following systems of Medicine

  • Homoeopathic
  • Indian system of medicine
    • Ayurveda
    • Unani
    • Siddha and
    • Yoga
