Centre extends Afspa in Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh

way2barak, September 26:  The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in parts of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland for a further period of six months until March 31, 2027, while retaining status quo in terms of the police stations and districts declared as “disturbed areas” under the Act.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in a notification issued on September 24, declared the areas “disturbed” under Section 3 of the AFSPA, 1958, with the order remaining in force until March 31, 2027, unless withdrawn earlier.
