কাছাড়ে ভোট পড়েছে ৭২ শতাংশ

৯ ডিসেম্বরঃ কাছাড় জেলায় পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনে ৭২ শতাংশ ভোট পড়েছে।  রাতে ভোটকর্মীরা ফিরে আসার পরে হিসাবনিকাশ করে এই তথ্য জানিয়েছেন জেলাশাসক ডা. এস লক্ষ্মণন। প্রায় সমস্ত ব্যালট বাক্স এই সময়ের মধ্যে ফিরে এসেছে। ভোটবন্দি ব্যালট বাক্সগুলিকে আইএসবিটি ও আইএসটিটি-র স্ট্রংরুমে কড়া নিরাপত্তায় ঢুকিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। ১২ তারিখে গণনা শুরুর আগে পর্যন্ত সেখানেই থাকবে।

এ দিকে, দিনের প্রথমার্ধে চান্নিঘাটের ঘটনার বাইরে তেমন কিছু শোনা না গেলেও বেলা বাড়তেই চারদিক থেকে অশান্তির খবর আসতে থাকে। বিকেলে ব্যালট বাক্স নিয়ে উত্তেজনা দেখা দেয় উধারবন্দের লক্ষ্মীরবন্দ এবং কাটিগড়ার ভৈরবপুরেও। লক্ষ্মীরবন্দে ব্যালট বাক্স পাওয়া যা্চ্ছে না গুজবে সাধারণ মানুষও ঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে আসেন। ওদিকে,  ভৈরবপুরে ব্যালট বাক্স জলে ফেলে দেওয়ার ঘটনা ঘটেছে।

একের পর এক এ সব ঘটনায় এ বার কাছাড়ে বেশ কিছু বুথে পুনর্নির্বাচন হবে। তবে ঠিক কত বুথে পুনর্নির্বাচন হচ্ছে, জেলাশাসক এখনও  তা চূড়ান্ত করে জানাতে পারেননি।

9 December: 72 percent vote was recorded at Cachar district on Sunday during the second phase of Panchayat Election 2018 in Assam. This was informed by Dr. S. Lakshmanan, Deputy Commissioner Cachar on the basis of the data collected after the poll teams deposited the ballot boxes and other poll related documents on Sunday night. The ballot boxes were kept under strict vigilance in the strong rooms at ISBT and ISTT, Silchar. The boxes will be kept there till counting starts on 12 December.

Meanwhile, apart from a major incidence of violence at Channighat under Dholai, sporadic cases of violence and chaos were also reported from other parts of the district. In the evening, tension mounted at Lakkhirband area of Udharbond and at Bhairabpur area of Katigorah. People came out of their houses at Lakkhirband when a rumour spread regarding the missing ballot box. Whereas, the ballot box of Bhairabpur was recovered from a nearby pond.

Incidents of violence were reported from a number of polling booths at Cachar. In many of the polling centres, re-polling will be done. But at present, the Deputy Commissioner was unable to comment on the number of polling booths where re-polling will be conducted on 11 December. The picture will be more clear on Monday.
