SSB & Police conducts Flag March in Cachar to instill confidence among voters

March 21: Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Keerthi Jalli along with the Superintendent of Police BL Meena went on a Flag March along with SSB and Police in Katigorah and Kalain areas of Cachar district on Sunday. Accompanied by more than hundred cops, they went around the major streets and market areas in order to instill confidence among the voters.

DC Jalli & SP Meena on their way spoke with several people including vehicle drivers, shopkeepers, general public and asked whether there was any pressure created upon them to vote for any particular person or party. Speaking to the journalists, DC Jalli said, “The Flag March was also a warning to those anti-social elements to be beware, if they at all have some sinister designs in their mind. We assured the people that any such kind of attempt to scare them or compel them to vote for someone or not to come out and vote will be dealt very sternly.”

“Whosoever tries to disrupt the voting process, the law will be implemented strictly. We are very serious about it. Today we have started this Flag March in Katigorah area. Very soon, we will also conduct the Flag March in other constituencies of Cachar. We want to convey a very strict message that the administration is awake 24×7 and we are not going to tolerate any rouge elements,” added the Deputy Commissioner.

While replying to a query of a journalist, DC Jalli said that till now they do not have any specific output about anybody taking law in their hands but added that the administration wanted to convince the common people that they should exercise their franchise in a free and fair manner. She said, “We also do have our Flying Squad and Static Surveillance Teams on the ground who have seized considerable amount of cash and alcohol. We are in complete control of the situation.”

Police Super BL Meena said, “This entire exercise is carried for confidence build up of the electorates so that they can come and cast their votes on 1 April without any fear or apprehension of fear.”
