3 more inmates released from Silchar Detention Centre

April 29: Three more persons lodged at Silchar Detention Centre housed inside Silchar Central Jail were released on Wednesday following the guidelines of the Supreme Court of India. All three of them are residents of Dima Hasao district in Assam. Those released are:

• Sadhan Malakar S/O, Late Girish Malakar, PS- Hafling, Dima Hasao district. He is in the detention camp since 18 February, 2016.
• Sunil Roy, S/O Late Piyari Roy, PS- Hafling, Dima Hasao district. He is in the detention camp since 21 February, 2016.
• Musamat Nurulnesa, Dima Hasao. She is in the detention camp since 1 June, 2019.

Team NELECC led by Dr. Abhijit Nath, Joydeep Dutta, Saumitra Dutta Roy, Pankaj Deb & others welcomed them outside the Detention center with face masks, ration kit & small token of monetary help. Expressing their view, NELECC appreciated the efforts taken by DIG Southern Range, SP Dima Hasao & all officials in release of the 3 detainees. Human Rights activist Kamal Chakraborty was also present during their release.
