Biggest single day spike of 23 deaths in Assam due to COVID-19, toll rises to 453

Sept. 12: Assam registered its biggest single day spike of 23 deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday. With this, the death toll of the state due to novel coronavirus has now reached 453. In a tweet on Saturday night, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Very sad & anguished to inform that 23 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease. My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.” The deceased were identified as:

  • Himangshu Sekhar Das (60) of Cachar
  • Randhir Gowala (45) & Pradip Dutta (60) of Dibrugarh
  • Dhaneswar Saikia (69) & Chandra Gogoi (62) of Sivasagar
  • Arjun Chandra Das (85) of Barpeta
  • Bimal Debnath (62) & Amalendu Chakravarty (71) of Udalguri
  • Sarada Saud (55) of Goalpara
  • Sobina Begum (36), Nakul Chandra Bora (57), Ananda Baruah (61) & Arup Saikia (68) of of Golaghat
  • Ramesh Prashad Budhia (68) of Jorhat
  • Tosheswar Sharma (78), Manto Mandal (77) & Kamali Basfore (65) of Sonitpur
  • Abdul Rahman (45) of Karbi Anglong
