চক-টকের’ বাইরে বিজ্ঞান-গণিতে আগ্রহ জাগাতে কর্মশালা আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি : বিজ্ঞান ও গণিত শিক্ষাকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় ও কার্যকর করে তোলার লক্ষ্যে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শুরু হল পাঁচদিনব্যাপী ‘বিজ্ঞান প্রতিভা প্রফেশনাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট ওয়ার্কশপ ফর সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ম্যাথেমেটিক্স’। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগ ও কলকাতার আইআইএসইআরের বিজ্ঞান প্রতিভা আঞ্চলিক কেন্দ্রের যৌথ উদ্যোগে এই কর্মশালা আয়োজিত হচ্ছে।

সোমবার সকালে বিপিন চন্দ্র পাল মিলনায়তনে আয়োজিত উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে পৌরোহিত্য করেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ। বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে তিনি বলেন, স্কুলস্তরে বিজ্ঞান ও গণিত বিষয়ের প্রতি শিক্ষার্থীদের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি নতুনভাবে গড়ে তোলার সময় এসেছে। বিজ্ঞান প্রতিভা প্রকল্প দেশের শিশুদের মধ্যে বিজ্ঞান ও গণিতকে জনপ্রিয় ও গণতান্ত্রিক করে তুলতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করছে বলে তিনি জানান।

অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন কলকাতার আইআইএসইআরের অধ্যাপিকা অনিন্দিতা ভদ্রা ও অধ্যাপক অয়ন বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডিন (অ্যাকাডেমিক্স) অধ্যাপক চিররঞ্জন ভট্টাচার্য, ডিন (রিসার্চ অ্যান্ড কনসালটেন্সি) অধ্যাপক পীযূষ পাণ্ডে, অ্যালবার্ট আইনস্টাইন স্কুল অব ফিজিক্যাল সায়েন্সেস-এর ডিন অধ্যাপিকা অত্রি দেশমুখ্য, পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস প্রমুখ। কর্মশালায় রিসোর্স পার্সন হিসেবে রয়েছেন ড. অলোকা কানেরে, ড. বরুণী পি সহ বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদরা।

স্বাগত বক্তব্যে কর্মশালার সমন্বয়ক ড. উৎপল সরকার বলেন, কর্মশালার লক্ষ্য হল প্রচলিত ‘চক অ্যান্ড টক’ পদ্ধতির বাইরে গিয়ে বিজ্ঞান ও গণিত শিক্ষায় নতুন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি ও বাস্তবমুখী পদ্ধতি প্রয়োগ করা, যাতে শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে এই বিষয়গুলির প্রতি দীর্ঘস্থায়ী আগ্রহ তৈরি হয়। এই কর্মশালায় কেন্দ্রীয় বিদ্যালয় সংগঠন, জওহর নবোদয় বিদ্যালয় ও আসাম রাজ্য বোর্ডের বিজ্ঞান ও গণিত শিক্ষকদের জন্য হাতে-কলমে প্রশিক্ষণ, নতুন শিক্ষণ কৌশল ও সমমনস্ক শিক্ষকদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় কর্মসূচি আয়োজিত হবে।

Way2barak, February 3 : With the objective of making science and mathematics education more engaging and effective, a five-day Science Pratibha Professional Development Workshop for Science and Mathematics commenced at Assam University on Monday. The workshop is being jointly organised by the Department of Physics, Assam University, and the Science Pratibha Regional Centre of IISER Kolkata.

The inaugural session was held at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant presided over the programme. In his address, Prof. Pant emphasised that the time has come to reshape students’ perspectives towards science and mathematics at the school level. He noted that the Science Pratibha initiative is playing a significant role in popularising and democratising science and mathematics among children across the country.

Distinguished guests present at the programme included Prof. Anindita Bhadra and Prof. Ayan Bandyopadhyay from IISER Kolkata. Also in attendance were Dean (Academics) Prof. Chiranjan Bhattacharjee, Dean (Research and Consultancy) Prof. Piyush Pandey, Dean of the Albert Einstein School of Physical Sciences Prof. Atri Deshmukh, Head of the Department of Physics Prof. Himadri Shekhar Das, among others. Eminent academicians Dr. Aloka Kanere, Dr. Baruni P. and others are serving as resource persons for the workshop.

In his welcome address, workshop coordinator Dr. Utpal Sarkar stated that the primary objective of the programme is to move beyond the conventional ‘chalk and talk’ method and introduce innovative, practical approaches to teaching science and mathematics, thereby fostering sustained interest among students. The workshop features hands-on training sessions, exposure to new pedagogical techniques, and interactive discussions for science and mathematics teachers from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Assam State Board schools.
