Beware health care workers! Use only Covaxin for those aged 15 to 18: Bharat Biotech
No pain killers recommended after Covaxin dose
Jan. 8: A 16-year-old boy was mistakenly given Covishield in Maharashtra’s Nasik. Following this, vaccine maker Bharat Biotech issued a statement requesting health care workers to be highly vigilant and ensure only Covaxin is being administered to children aged 15 to 18 years.
“‘We have received several reports of other COVID-19 vaccines being administered to individuals in the 15-18 years age group. We humbly request healthcare workers to be highly vigilant and ensure that only is administered to individuals in the 15-18 years age group,” stated Bharat Biotech in its statement.
The company that produces covaxin further wrote, “Covaxin received approval based on thorough clinical trial evaluation for safety and immunogenicity in the 2-18 years age group. Currently it is the only COVID-1 9 vaccine in India approved for children. We thank our healthcare workers for their great service to our nation during this pandemic.”
Earlier Bharat Biotech also said that no pain killers were recommended after Covaxin dose.
