Cachar to host day-long Border Festival in Dholai on November 24

way2barak, November 20: The District Administration, Cachar, is gearing up to host a vibrant day-long Border Festival at Dholai on 24th November, bringing together communities from Assam and Mizoram in a spirited celebration of harmony, culture, and sports. A detailed preparatory meeting was held at the Co -District ,Dholai office on Thursday, where officials from both states reviewed all necessary arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the event.
The meeting witnessed the participation of senior officials from Mizoram, including H. Vanlalbiakzauva, SDO (Civil), Vairengte, and Lalnufela Chawngthu, MCS, SDO (Sadar), Mamit. From the Cachar side, the session was chaired by District Development Commissioner Cachar, Shri Norsing Bey, ACS, who emphasised seamless coordination between both administrations. Co District Commissioner , Dholai, Shri Roktim Baruah led on-ground planning, while Assistant Commissioner and Block Development Officer, incharge Dholai -Narsingpur Development Block, Smt Neihat Haolai, Assistant Commissioner, Smt Bonnykha Chetia, Circle Officer Sonai, Maria Tanim, and the Assistant Commissioner & In-Charge, DDIPR Barak Valley Zone,Smt Deepa Das attended to assess cultural, logistical, and security aspects.
On the day of the event, the B.N.M.P. School field will host a friendly football match followed by a volleyball match between teams from Cachar and Mizoram, symbolising unity and sportsmanship. Simultaneously, the CDC Dholai office ground will set the stage for an engaging cultural programme, featuring dynamic performances by cultural troupes from Vairengte and Mamit, alongside artistes from Cachar. The cultural showcase, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will highlight the rich traditions and shared heritage of the border communities.
Adding flavour to the celebrations, ASRLM will curate a variety of food stalls displaying traditional cuisines from the region, offering visitors an authentic taste of local delicacies.
With sports, culture, and community bonding at its heart, the day-long Border Festival at Dholai promises to further strengthen inter-state relations while celebrating the vibrant spirit of the people living along the Assam Mizoram border.
