Barak Valley registers 100 Covid +ve cases on Tuesday, 114 discharged
There are 792 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 13: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was considerably less. A total of 100 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 114 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 792 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 140 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 37 positive cases (It was 78 on Monday)
- Karimganj: 41 positive cases (It was 52 on Monday)
- Hailakandi: 22 positive cases (It was 10 on Monday)
A total of 37 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Tuesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 2,764 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 31 persons were found positive, whereas 06 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,318, whereas during this phase, 17,771 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 374. Also, 63 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 12 July to 5 PM on 13 July) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 13 July, there were 93 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 56 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 37 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 13 patients were put under ventilator support and 69 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 13 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered 22 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Of the 22 positive cases detected on Tuesday, 22 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas none were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 112 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,275 RAT tests and 295 RT-PCR tests were done. 13 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,654 (both 1st & 2nd wave).
As of now, a total of 4,120 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 10 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Monday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. No vaccination sessions were held in Hailakandi on Tuesday.
Karimganj registered 41 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The district has currently 306 active COVID-19 cases, while 38 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Tuesday. 3,220 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 52 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Monday.
On Tuesday, out of 1,24,381 tests, 2,169 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,38,407. The positivity rate in the state is 1.74 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 258 positive cases during the day. Further, on Tuesday, 23 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,888. The recovery rate is 95.07 percent. On Tuesday, 1,456 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,11,888 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 20,284 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 23 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 23 deceased, 03 each are from Golaghat & Jorhat; 02 each from Karbi Anglong, Nagaon & Tinsukia; 01 each from Biswanath, Chirang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Hojai, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, Lakhimpur, Morigaon & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,888.
