Barak Art & Craft Society writes to CM Assam, seeks financial assistance due to Covid crisis

July 14: With a few months after the first wave, the 2nd wave of Covid-19 set its footstep. People from all walks of life were severely affected by the pandemic. Especially, those without any fixed regular income, had to bear the burnt of lockdown or Covid curfew. Even the artisans, craftsmen lost their jobs and were left at the mercy of none.

On Wednesday, a delegation of Barak Art & Craft Society submitted memorandum the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar. In the memorandum, the Society sought financial assistance to artists, craftsmen and artisans of Barak valley who were passing their days in immense hardship due to financial crisis induced by Covid curfew since the last three months. They further mentioned that in the absence of state assistance, these people will gradually move towards starvation.
