Bajrang Dal demands ban on entry of JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh in Cachar

March 7: Aishe Ghosh, the current president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) in JNU Delhi who won as students’ union president representing Students’ Federation of India (SFI) against right wing union ABVP for 2019-20 term was invited to attend a students meet at Algapur in Hailakandi. She was invited to address a gathering of students by the Hailakandi Committee of SFI on 19 March, 2020 in the field of ALC College, Algapur. All-India General Secretary of SFI, Mayukh Biswas along with other student leaders were also supposed to attend this meet.

However, on 7 March, 2020, the Silchar Zila Committee of Bajrang Dal submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar wherein they raised a strong demand to ban the entry of JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh in Cachar district on the ground that her visit may result in communal tension over here in Barak Valley. In the said memorandum, they alleged that Aishe Ghosh of being directly involved in ‘anti-CAA movement, anti-national sloganeering which culminated in widespread violence inside the hostels in JNU.’

Bajrang Dal further alleged her to be ‘anti-national, anti-Hindu and an outlaw in the country, who is visiting Barak Valley with a hidden mission to ‘excite and incite the common people against the government on the issue of CAA.’ They expressed apprehensions that the presence of Aishe Ghosh may in the long run disturb the ‘communal harmony of this valley.’

It was in this pretext that the Silchar Zila Bajrang Dal urged upon the Deputy Commissioner to restrict Aishe Ghosh from stepping in Barak Valley either by air, rail or road. Copies of the memorandum were also marked to the the Chief Minister of Assam, DIG Southern Range and SP Cachar wherein they sought the intervention of all of them in disallowing entry to Ms. Ghosh in Cachar. In the absence of the Deputy Commissioner, the memorandum was handed to the ADC Cachar.
