Awareness programme on Dental Health Care held at Women’s College
way2barak, MARCH 12: With the view to spread awareness among women and girls on the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and steps to avoid gum bleeding, the Extension Education and Health Care Centre, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Women’s College Silchar in collaboration with the Department of Periodontics and Implantology, Government Dental College Silchar and Indian Society of Periodontology organised an awareness programme on Dental Care at the college on Tuesday.
Dr Purobi Choudhury, Professor of Dentistry at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital along with Dr Jishnu Nath, Reader, Government Dental College Silchar, Dr Sunanda Paul and Dr Fariya Ashraf, faculty members of the Dental College interacted with the students of the college and disseminated vital information on oral hygiene.
Dr Purobi Choudhury informed that a nation-wide campaign on “Say No to Bleeding Gums,” an initiative of Indian Society of Periodontology is being carried out since February 1 and will continue till March 20. “As a part of the International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8, we are also echoing Women health and Oral Health for which we are disseminating vital Dos and Don’ts related to brushing and overall oral health among girls and people at large. We were happy to see the spontaneous response among the students of the college for the screening,” Dr Choudhury said. The doctors examined over 50 girl students of the college and some of the teaching staff, gave them prescriptions and necessary medicines as well. Doctors from the branch of Orthodontics also interreacted with the students during the check up and screening and shared necessary points for oral care and informed them about the various facilities available for oral treatment.
