21 tests +ve in Cachar on Sunday, 3 patients critical at SMCH

Oct. 18: On Sunday, a total of 21 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 651 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 18 persons were found positive, whereas 03 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,076. It needs mention here that 67 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 202 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 513 persons were collected. 592 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 of them tested positive. Further, 176 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 were found positive.

Apart from this, 16 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 13 were discharged. At present, there are 56 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 17 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 03 patients are now in critical condition. Another 04 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 242 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 450 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 163 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 163 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
