Assam University to celebrate Fit India Week

Way2barak, December 3 : ‘Fit India Week’ will be celebrated in Assam University, Silchar during 5th to 9th December, 2023. It is a part of Fit India Movement, an important initiative of Government of India. This year the UGC has directed all the Universities and colleges across India to celebrate Fit India Week for 4-6 days anytime during 15th November to 15th December, 2023. Assam University Sports Board is organizing different events for the students of different departments for 5 days to celebrate the same.

The celebration will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar Prof Rajive Mohan Pant in presence of Director, Assam University Sports Board Prof M. Tineshowri Devi, members of Sports Board and other dignitaries on 5th December 2023 morning with the flag off for Mini Marathon for both Men and Women. Other sports events include, race(100 m, 1500 m), relay race(4x100m), long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, volley ball and basketball.

There is also an Essay Writing Competition with the theme ‘Fit India Movement: Join the fitness revolution, transform India’. The events will be concluded with Yoga Demonstration and Fitness pledge on 9th December, 2023 at the Mukta Mancha of the University. All the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be recognized with medals and certificates. Assam University Sports Board invites the students of various departments of the University to actively participate in the said events.
