Assam University organizes cancer awareness program at Silcoorie camp

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর : কাছাড় ক্যান্সার হাসপাতাল ও গবেষণা কেন্দ্রের (সিসিএইচআরসি) সহযোগিতায় আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকর্ম বিভাগ গতকাল শিলকুড়ি ক্যাম্পে ক্যান্সার সচেতনতা কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করে। শিলকুড়ি রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের স্বামীজির উপস্থিতিতে এই কর্মসূচির আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করেন সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক তরুণ বিকাশ সুকাই।

উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্যে বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক সুকাই জানান, আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মেডিক্যাল আউটরিচ কর্মসূচির অঙ্গ হিসেবেই এই সচেতনতা অভিযান। এই কর্মসূচিতে রিসোর্স পার্সন হিসেবে ছিলেন। সিসিএইচআরসি’র থৈবি সানা। এদিন প্রায় ১০০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারীকে ক্যান্সার প্রতিরোধ, প্রাথমিক শনাক্তকরণ এবং উপলব্ধ সহায়তা ব্যবস্থা সম্পর্কে সচেতন করা হয়।

স্থানীয় জনগণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এই উদ্যোগের প্রশংসা করেন। তারা স্বাস্থ্যজনিত শিক্ষা সরাসরি জনসাধারণের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষকে আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতাও জানান। প্রসঙ্গত, আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিনিয়তই বিভিন্ন গ্রামে বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচি পালন করে চলেছে। এতে বিনামূল্যে উপকৃত হচ্ছেন সংশ্লিষ্ট এলাকাবাসী।

Way2barak, September 3 : The Department of Social Work, Assam University organized a cancer awareness program on 2nd September at the Silcoorie Camp, as part of its medical outreach initiative in collaboration with the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC).

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Tarun Bikash Sukai, Head of the Department of Social Work, in the presence of the Swamiji of the Silcoorie Ramakrishna Mission. Ms. Thoibi Sana, a Medical Social Worker from the CCHRC, served as the resource person, educating approximately 100 attendees on prevention, early detection, and available support systems.

The initiative was highly praised by the local community members, who appreciated the university’s effort to bring vital health education directly to the public. This latest program yet again underscores the Department of Social Work’s commitment to impactful community engagement and public health advocacy.
