আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে নারী বিজ্ঞানীদের অবদানের ওপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১ মার্চ : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের উদ্যোগে শনিবার যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান দিবস পালন করা হয়। এ বছরের মূল প্রতিপাদ্য ছিল ‘বিজ্ঞানে নারী: উন্নত ভারতের অনুঘটক’। প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলন ও ছাত্রছাত্রীদের পরিবেশিত ‘বন্দে মাতরম’ সংগীতের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা হয়। উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্য পেশ করেন অধ্যাপক বি. ইন্দ্রজিৎ শর্মা। অনুষ্ঠানে অধ্যাপক শাহিনারা বেগমকে তাঁর অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য সংবর্ধনা প্রদান করা হয়। সেইসঙ্গে সংবর্ধনা জানানো হয় অন্য বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদদেরও।

​অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান বক্তা অধ্যাপক শাহিনারা বেগম এ বছরের মূল থিমের ওপর আলোকপাত করে একটি তথ্যগর্ভ বক্তৃতা প্রদান করেন। তিনি তাঁর দীর্ঘ গবেষণা জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতা ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সামনে তুলে ধরেন এবং উন্নত ভারত গঠনে নারী বিজ্ঞানীদের ভূমিকার কথা ব্যাখ্যা করেন। এক ইন্টার‍্যাক্টিভ সেশনের মাধ্যমে তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের বিভিন্ন প্রশ্নের উত্তরও দেন।

​কারিগরি অধিবেশনে পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের ভারপ্রাপ্ত বিভাগীয় প্রধান ডঃ উৎপল সরকার ‘রমন এফেক্ট’ সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করেন। এরপর অধ্যাপক অত্রি দেশমুখ্য বিজ্ঞান ও সমাজে নারীর অংশগ্রহণ ও লিঙ্গ সমতার গুরুত্ব নিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন। অনুষ্ঠানের শেষার্ধে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের অংশগ্রহণে পোস্টার প্রেজেন্টেশন, তাৎক্ষণিক বক্তৃতা এবং কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। শেষে ধন্যবাদ সূচক বক্তব্য রাখেন ডঃ দেবলীনা পাল। প্রসঙ্গত, বিভাগীয় শিক্ষক ডঃ স্বর্ণদীপ বিশ্বাস এই অনুষ্ঠানের আহ্বায়ক ছিলেন এবং ছাত্র ও গবেষকদের পক্ষ থেকে সমন্বয়কের দায়িত্ব পালন করেন বিকি প্রসাদ।

Way2barak, March 1 : The Department of Physics at Assam University observed National Science Day with due solemnity on Saturday, placing special emphasis on the contributions of women scientists. This year’s theme was ‘Women in Science: Catalyst for a Developed India.’ The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a rendition of Vande Mataram by students. Prof. B. Indrajit Sharma delivered the inaugural address. On the occasion, Prof. Shahin Ara Begum was felicitated for her outstanding contributions. Several other distinguished academicians were also honoured.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Shahin Ara Begum spoke extensively on the theme of the year. Sharing insights from her long research career, she highlighted the vital role of women scientists in building a developed India. She also engaged in an interactive session, responding to questions from students. During the technical session, Dr. Utpal Sarkar, Head-in-Charge of the Department of Physics, delivered a lecture on the Raman Effect. Prof. Atri Deshmukh subsequently spoke on women’s participation in science and society and the importance of gender equality.

The latter half of the programme featured poster presentations, extempore speeches, and a quiz competition with active participation from students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Debolina Pal. It may be mentioned that Dr. Swarnadeep Biswas served as the convenor of the programme, while Vicky Prasad coordinated the event on behalf of students and research scholars.
