Assam University fraternity express deep condolence at the demise of retd Prof GC Sarma

way2barak, Dec.12: Prof Gunindra Chandra Sarma (G C Sarma), retired teacher of the Department of Mathematics of Assam University, Silchar breathed his last due to old-age related ailments on 8 December, 2022. He served in Assam University as Professor of Mathematics since the inception of the department in 1994 till his retirement 2005.

Before joining Assam University, Prof Sarma served in Guahati University and Dibrugarh University. During his service life in Assam University, he served as HOD of Mathematics and Dean, School of Physical Sciences. In his academic journey, he produced many scholars who are now well established in various prestigious institutions.

The department of Mathematics, Assam University has observed condolence on his sad demise. Prof. Samira Behera spoke at length about the life and contributions of Late Prof. GC Sarma towards the development of Assam University. Among the others who also spoke during the condolence meeting were Prof. Karabi Dutta Choudhury, Dr.Uday Shankar Chakraborty and Prof. Sanjib Sengupta.

The administrative branch of Assam University also conducted a condolence meeting on the sad demise of Prof. G C Sarma. Vice Chancellor, Registrar and others expressed deep condolence on hi demise and highlighted his contribution in the academic growth of the university.
