Assam students move interlocutory application before Supreme Court for cancellation of Class X & XII Board exams

June 14: An Interlocutory Application bearing No. 67880/2021 has been filed before the Supreme Court on Monday seeking appropriate order/ directions for cancellation of Class X and XII Board Examinations, 2021 in the State of Assam. The plea filed by a group of students’ states that they are being compelled to appear in the HSLC and HS exams amid a threat to their life. The petition says: “In the interest of the safety of lakhs of students and their parents, it is better to cancel the exams.”

Further, directions have been sought to the State Government, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) to arrive at a formula for performance evaluation of the Students of Assam in line with the formula adopted by CBSE and other Education Boards and to release the results in a time bound manner.

It is pertinent to mention here that the original Writ Petition was filed by Anubha Shrivastava Sahai and 7 others being W.P.(C) No.620/2021 on 3rd June 2021 and the said writ petition along with all other applications are likely to be listed on 17th June, 2021.
