Assam govt to take call on reopening schools, colleges after 25 August

August 15: The final decision for reopening schools and colleges in Assam will be taken by Assam government after 25 August. Assam Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has invited suggestions from the people of the state. As such, suggestions have poured in. All these will be analysed by the government after 25 August. Further, the state government will also take into consideration the recommendation of the central government in this regard. It is only after that the Assam government will finally decide the date the date of reopening the educational institutions of the state.

Earlier, the minister declared that schools and colleges in Assam will reopen from 1 September subject to approval of the Union government. As per the central government all educational institutions shall remain closed till 31 August. It needs mention that the educational institutions in the state are shut since 16 March, 2020 with the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
