Around 60 lakh people in 3 priority categories to be administered Covid vaccine in Assam
Nov. 30: At a time, when 2,12,617 COVID-19 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Assam till 29 November, the stage government has finalised working upon priority categories who will first be administered vaccine. Going by this, it appeared that around 60 lakh people in Assam are likely to be covered under the priority categories for the COVID-19 vaccine. This was stated by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while interacting with the media at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Monday.
As per the priority, doctors, nurses and frontline workers have been incorporated in the 1st category, who are more vulnerable to the virus. The 2nd category comprises of police, paramilitary and security agencies. In the third category, people above 50 years of age were enlisted. Apart from these three, Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned about a fourth priority category and would include people with co-morbidities. More than 60 lakh people incorporated in these categories will 1st receive the Covid-19 vaccine in Assam.
