‘Anna Mahotsav’ kick starts in Cachar; Fair Price Shops to be inspected soon

Oct. 22: Ceremonial distribution programme of “Anna Mahotsav” under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Kalyan Anna Yojana(PMGKAY) was held at Gandhi Bhaban on Friday here in silchar. The programme was organised by
Food & Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs Department under the aegis of Cachar District Administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Food and Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs, Kamal Baruah said that this Anna Mahotsav will be a great help for the poor people at this critical time of pandemic. He further stressed that a special drive will take place shortly to inspect the Fair Price Shops whether they have displayed the list of beneficiaries of National food security act card holders or not and requested all concerned for surrendering the ration cards who are not eligible as per Govt norms.

In the program organized on this occasion, every speaker praised this kind of programme. However, they requested the administration to identify the fake ration card holders and arrange surprise visits to the fair price shops. They said that strict action should be taken against the fake cardholders by identifying them. Besides, it is necessary to ensure that the real beneficiaries are not deprived.

It is worth mentioning that 3,23000 beneficiaries will be benefited under this scheme. It is pertinent to mention that this scheme started from the month of May,2021 and will be continued upto Diwali. On this occasion, the non woven carry bags with 10 kg rice were handed over to 20 beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by the Bimalendu Ray, Cachar BJP President, Manjul Deb, Silchar Development Authority, Nitya Bhushan Dey, Chairman APDCL, Himashri Deka Assistant Commissioner & Branch Officer, Superintendent of FCS&CA, Prakash Kalita, Inspectors of FCS&CA Branch and other officials.
