Animal health cum vaccination camp held in Hailakandi on World Animal Day
Oct.4: World Animal Day was observed in Hailakandi district here on Sunday. ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra organised an Animal Health cum Vaccination Camp at Chandpur West where a total of 31 domestic animals were treated and 133 animals administered vaccine for foot and mouth disease together with free distribution of medicine. ICAR, KVR, In-charge, Dr.Bijoy Chetri urged the villagers to nurse and take care of animals and work for their welfare and protection.
Eminent veterinarian, Dr.Jayanta Talukdar, who was present in the camp, said special care must be taken of animals during rainy season when they are mostly afflicted with diseases. Officials and veterinarians attending the camp said friendship between humans and animals is considered to be reliable and ever lasting.
“Every animal has the right to co-exist with us; they should also be treated with love, compassion, and care,” they said, adding, “When we protect an animal on the earth, we demonstrate an act of compassion, kindness and inspiration towards a better world.” Hence, to raise awareness about the well-being of animals and to improve the welfare standards of the animals, World Animal Day is celebrated annually on October 4 across the world, they added.
