Amid spike in Covid cases, IndiGo to cancel 20% flights
Jan. 10: Surge in Covid-19 cases driven by Omicron variant has compelled IndiGo to cancel 20 percent of its flights. However, it will be waiving change fees and is offering free changes for all new and existing bookings made upto 31 January for flights upto 31 March, 2022. Change fee is usually charged from a passenger to switch to a different flight date.
The budget carrier IndiGo said in a press release on Sunday that with reduced demand, it will also selectively withdraw some flights from service. It stated, “Wherever possible, cancellation of flights will be done atleast 72 hours in advance and customers will be moved to the next available flight and will also be able to change their travel through the use of Plan B (section) on our website.”
